What's the Highest Credit Score I Can Get?

Your credit score is an important number, influencing how much you pay for credit cards and loans and even whether you’re approved for a credit card or loan. Even insurance companies use your credit score to decide how much your insurance rate will be.

The higher your credit score, the better. People with higher credit scores get the lowest rates. That’s because this group of borrowers has demonstrated they’re less risky by paying their bills on time and only borrowing what they can afford to repay.

The absolute highest credit score you can get is 990. That’s on the Vantage Score scale. The Vantage Score is a credit score developed by the three credit bureaus – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The score ranges from 501 to 990, with higher scores being better.

On other credit scoring scales, including the most widely-used FICO score, 850 is the highest credit score you can receive and 300 is the lowest. Both the Equifax BEACON and the TransUnion TransRisk credit scores are calculated within this range.

Another major player in the credit score arena, Experian PLUS Score, has credit scores ranging from 330 to 830.
