The following are some steps you can take to prevent cellular
telephone fraud:
Check with the cellular phone firm to find out what anti-fraud
features they have.
Always use the lock feature on the phone when it is not being
used.
Keep documents containing your phone's ESN in a safe place.
Check your cellular phone bills thoroughly each month.
Report a stolen cellular telephone immediately to the cellular
telephone carrier. Unfortunately, consumers usually learn
about cellular telephone fraud when they receive their bill.
However, standard industry practice is to not charge consumers
for cloned calls. If you fall victim to cellular telephone fraud,
contact your cellular telephone provider immediately. If you
are having a problem with your service provider, file a complaint
with the FCC.
