Debix Inc. is based in Austin, Texas. The company was founded in 2004 by CEO Bo Holland. Debix is partnered with several identity theft organizations, such as the Identity Theft Resource Center and the American National Standards Institute, to provide comprehensive identity theft protection for its members. Debix claims to have stopped 2,722 attempts at ID theft, saving almost $20 million in losses, since July of 2007.

Product

Debix specifically prevents new-account identity theft, in which criminals use your personal information to take out new loans and credit cards in your name. Debix members each receive an Instant Authorization account. This means that anytime someone tries to open a new account in your name, you'll receive a phone call asking for authorization. You simply type in your secure 4-digit PIN and press the * key on your phone to prevent the account from being opened. You'll then be connected with a Debix specialist who wil contact law enforcement officials if necessary.

Debix also monitors your credit report for changes, such as a change of address, and alerts you (also via a phone call) when new information has posted to your report.

Debix also offers child identity theft protection by scanning credit databases, searching for illicit use of your child's Social Security number.
