Round-up: Dateline Investigates Identity Theft (Part II)

This is the second part of the NBC Dateline investigation, in which Chris Hansen and team travel to Africa and Europe in search of the real people behind the online scams. These video segments show how intricate and convoluted an ID theft ring can really be. Watching them really help to understand why less than 1% of these ID thieves are ever prosecuted for the crime.

Chris Hansen goes overseas to Benin, a small country in Africa, to find the kingpin behind the ID fraud ring.

By placing a tracker inside the package, the Dateline team hopes to catch the thief red-handed. 

Dateline turns the tables and tries to set up an in-person meeting with an identity thief.

Hansen presses the "lawyer" for the truth, who turns out to be from Nigeria. The conclusion? "Everybody lies."
