Video Week: How Hackers Make Fake Credit Cards

Welcome to Day Two of SpendOnLife's Video Week! In today's video, Detective Bob Watts shows how fraudsters clone credit cards using costly and elaborate machinery. I had no idea about the complexity of equipment needed to create authentic-looking plastic. These criminals had hologram-pressing machines, embossing and foil-tipping machines, even a machine that embeds the black light security feature on cards, virtually guaranteeing their acceptance anywhere. 

The Newport Beach police team that broke up this particular fraud ring estimates that this equipment was used to steal more than $1,000,000.
